J. Ashley Inabnet is a Partner in the Firm and anchors the Firm’s office in Covington, Louisiana. His primary areas of practice include professional liability defense for architects and engineers, construction defect litigation, defense of construction delay claims, preparation of design and construction related contracts, and other related issues. Ashley is admitted to practice in all Louisiana State and Federal Courts.
Ashley received his Bachelor of Architecture Degree from Louisiana State University in 1977 and practiced architecture until 1988, when he decided upon a career change to the legal field. Ashley received his Juris Doctorate from Loyola University School of Law in 1992 and thereafter began a civil litigation defense practice. Ashley is a licensed Architect in Louisiana and is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards and is a member of the American Institute of Architects, and the Jefferson Society. Ashley also holds a Louisiana General Contractor’s license.
Ashley has developed an extensive defense litigation practice focused primarily on representation of architects, engineers, and other design professionals in Louisiana State and Federal Courts. He also represents designer and construction clients in disputes that do not involve professional liability defense, as well as providing advice to clients on construction related contracts and risk management issues. Since 1998, Ashley has served in the capacities of Arbitrator and/or Mediator in numerous design and construction related disputes as a member of the American Arbitration Association’s Panel of Arbitrators and Mediators and also in private, non-AAA, matters. During his career, Ashley has served as speaker, panel member, and presenter at many design and construction based seminars and conferences.
